A Space for the Unbound is inspired by 90s rural Indonesia that tells a story about overcoming anxiety, depression, and the relationship between a boy and a girl with supernatural powers. Follow two high school sweethearts, Atma and Raya. When a mysteriously supernatural power is suddenly unleashed, threatening their existence, they must explore and investigate their town to uncover hidden secrets, face the end of the world, and perhaps learn more about each other.

A Space for The Unbound presents an endearing story-driven experience with a vibrant environment waiting to be explored.

History

A Space for the Unbound started as a game jam during MojikenCamp in 2015. Dimas Novan, the Game Director of A Space for the Unbound was inspired by the concept of anime pilgrimage, an activity to compare anime background settings and their real-life counterparts. It amazed him how anime backgrounds give a different feeling to the place that already existed and that’s what inspired him and Mojiken Studio to create A Space for the Unbound. The set is highly inspired by the typical rural town in Indonesia, especially Surabaya, where Mojiken Studio resides. The team wants to pay a tribute to the place they grew up in.

The team tries to show as many interesting local cultures as possible and implemented local elements into the game, such as blocking the road with an outdoor wedding party which can be seen often in Indonesia, stray cats all around the town, Indonesian street food, public transportation, and even an actual location that can be found on Google Earth.
